Middelburg, the city where Wieteke has lived since 2002, has always captured her imagination. Yet it is only since 2016 that she actually started painting her beloved city. This happened after a 3-year painting hiatus. Previously, she had been exploring different painting styles as well as creating 3-dimensional work.

So suddenly, at the end of 2016, her own unique style emerged: colorful, playful and cheerful. Wieteke gave it the name Middelburg Painting. Meanwhile, Middelburg Painting is no longer just scenes of Middelburg, but still painted from the heart of Middelburg, where Wieteke opens her studio once a month during Middelburg's Art and Culture Route.
